>Water Conservation
On average we use 155 Litres of water per day, per person! This adds up to 22 million households using a staggering 15,400 megalitres of water every 24 hours. Many of us take for granted our washing machines, dish washers and power showers, and expect our supply of water to be unlimited. Unfortunately this is not the case.
Our reservoirs are at historically low levels, they have never been so low, and our demands on the supplies are getting higher. We as a nation need to start conserving our water and finding new and sustainable supplies of water, so that our requirements continue to be met, and do not start to cost us dearly, environmentally and financially.
Utility bills are rising and soon water meters will be the way of monitoring and charging us for water usage, all over the UK. If we don't find alternative supplies of water this could prove to be an expensive experience for us all. There are many water saving accessories and products now available, all aiming to help with the reduction of water wastage and a reduction in our utility bills.
A bathroom refit is the perfect time to consider some of the water saving options.
Low flush or duel flush toilets, over a third of our water is used when we flush the toilet.
Water regulators can be fitted to the outlets from our wash basins and showers.
New Mira digital showers, with 'warm up' feature which prevents too much water being wasted while waiting for desired temperature. The shower can also be set for a given length of time!! So no more long showers in the rush hour of family life!
There are other ways of reducing your water consumption, by up to 50%!
RAINWATER HARVESTING, and the use of 'GREY WATER'.
These supplies of water are stored in a tank that is under ground, filtered and reused around the property for supplying water to flush toilets, wash clothes or water the garden., Leaving the mains water supply to provide you with fresh, treated water for drinking and bathing. After all it does make sense to make use of the rain that falls directly into your back garden doesn't it?
