Energy efficiency
Energy ratings are the starting point for energy efficiency, we have to start with identifying the problem before we can find the right solution. Once the efficiency problems with a property are identified, a realistic time based action plan for improvements can be put into place.
Over recent years energy assessments have been carried out on industrial and commercial properties because the savings made there can be so high it generally pays for the cost of assessments, although for domestic market most improvements have quite a long payback period and the cost of the energy assessment is just another cost to factor into the equation.
At ECO-SURVEY we think eventually the government will link council tax to efficiency rather than house price, as both are rated from A-G. In pilot schemes for the H.I.P local government as already introduced incentives for being energy efficient.
When this happens the payback period for making improvements like solar will be reduced because of savings made from both fuel bills and local government taxes. This will encouraging us all to be more aware of energy efficiency, and help us pay for implementing new green technologies.
As an energy efficiency company we our making every effort to reduce our own carbon footprint, our energy assessors drive the Toyota Prius which is the most energy efficient car in its class, lets face it there seems little point in providing energy assessments if the assessor turns up in a 4x4.
Sustainable development
Well it sounds good, but what does it mean?
The growth of the population and our demand for technology and energy are increasing on daily basis. In order for us all to carry on enjoying all the technology available to us, all the things we take for granted like washing machines, TV, computers, lighting, heating etc, we need a supply of energy to match our ever increasing consumption.
We need to lower our current demand for energy so that energy savings can be used for the demand due to population and growth, and together with improving the way we manufacture energy and produce it more efficiently hopefully will provide us with balance between supply, demand, increased growth and the production of CO²

The Phrase 'We are destroying the planet' is not exactly true, the planet earth will be around for millions of years to come. What is true is that we are making the planet incapable of supporting Human life which is different, either way we need to do something about it now, right now.
We are consuming the planets natural resources at an alarming rate and we need to stop and think, and consider our actions.
Most peoples lives our complicated enough, and we are busy coping with the fundamental things like paying the bills and providing a roof over our families heads, but we must try to make a difference no matter how small.
We are all guilty of been wasteful, and if everybody made a conscious effort then maybe we could all make a difference.
Making a difference
Its not just the fact you could save money on your fuel bills that should encourage you to be more energy efficient, but the fact that you are making a difference, no matter how small.

Home Energy Survey
How energy efficient is your home?
As a company involved in the heating industry for the last 20 years it has been a matter of course to work out the heat loss for buildings.
We can provide an eco health check.
Please phone Janet Parkes free on 0800-0-96-83-96 to make an appointment for a home energy survey, and see what you can do to make a difference to energy conservation.
